Workout Tips For Beginners

If you are just starting out on your exercise journey, then I want to give you a few tips to help you as you begin this new step forward.

*Do not over schedule yourself to train - do not stress yourself into believing that you MUST workout 4/5 times a week for an hour each session. If you over schedule yourself, then you are more likely to cancel, then you are more likely to give up or not believe in yourself that you can do this. Start off with what you can handle, which might only be two sessions a week and that's ok. As you begin to settle into those sessions and start feeling the benefits, you will automatically try and include more.

*Take it at your own pace - Build up your fitness gradually, start with the basics to build proper technique and form (ideally working with a professional). Chose the easier options that are offered in sessions first. Do not try and go for the hard or advanced moves if you haven't covered the basics yet. We learn to walk before we can run. So even in a session, be mindful and listen to your body and only go as far as you can

*Do not compare yourself to others - whether it is on social media, your friend, your family or the girl training next to you at the studio, do not compare yourself to that person, their looks or their fitness level. We are all on different journey's so you cannot compare of judge a person without walking a mile in their shoes. We are all different body shapes and sizes so our results will all be different to one another. You do not know how long it took for that person to get there, what struggles they had to face and also how hard they had to work.

*Tackle one thing at a time - try not to change your entire eating plan, start a whole new fitness regime as well as face a new job or move house all at once. Give your body time to adjust and adapt by tackling one thing at a time, that way you can focus on that positive change and it is more likely to stick.

*Make sure you set small realistic goals - a large goal broken down into smaller ones are more achievable and believable. Don't say 'I want to lose 10 kilos in 2 months'. Break it down into smaller goals such as 'I want to improve my nutrition in order to help with my weight loss'. 'I want to start by losing my first 2 kilos'. 'I want to increase my water intake on a daily basis'. Breaking down your approach will help you see a clearer picture to what you need to do that way you stay on the right track to achieving your mail end goal.

*Stay positive - keep positive affirmations and statements in front of you. Make sure you can see or watch people or videos or pictures that inspire and motivate you (not the other way round)

Always remember that if you are just starting out, it is always advisable to work with a professional so you are given the correct guidance and form.
