Raiding The Fridge During The Holidays.....
So many of you, including myself, seem to have developed an increase in our hunger, cravings and wanting to snack a lot more often during the holidays. So as per request I have collected some of my favorite treats that you can munch down on, which are guilt free and taste super good, they will keep your blood sugar levels steady, plus with the added bonus of eating healthy for a stronger immunity and mind, oh and did I mention they are super easy to make too!
CRAVING SOMETHING SALTY & CRUNCHY:
Toss air-popped popcorn with
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
& dash of sea salt
Heat the oven to 180 deg.
In a bowl combine roughly torn pieces of kale
Drizzle some olive oil
Drizzle some curry powder
Pinch of salt
Arrange the kale in a single layer on the cookie sheet and bake until crisp and lightly brown edges ( around 12- 15 minutes)
CRAVING SOMETHING SWEET:
1 3/4 cups chopped frozen mango
1 cup Greek Yogurt
3 tbsp honey
2 tbsp orange juice (preferably fresh)
Blend all the above in a food processor until smooth and serve immediately OR freeze for some guilt free sorbet.
1 banana
Handful of strawberries
Blend together and freeze for some guilt free ice cream
CRAVING SOMETHING SAVORY:
60g ricotta
With 2 tsp honey
On top of Ryvita crackers (can choose original or sweet flavour
1 small nectarine (optional)
1 whole wheat slice of bread
with 1 tbsp hummus,
2 slices tomato and
1 sliced hard boiled egg
1 sliced whole wheat toast
with 2 tsp almond butter &
1 tbsp chopped dried apricots
Blend 1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp almond butter
Drizzle some pumpkin spice to taste
Serve with 1 sliced apple
