COLOR YOURSELF HAPPY

As well as trying to ensure you hit your five-a-day quota, it's also good for your health to think about the range of colors you're eating. Filling your diet with a rainbow of shades is the easiest way to ensure you're fueling your body with a variety of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants.

But which colors do what?

Foods like oranges are packed with the antioxidants beta-carotene and flavonoids, as well as vitamin C, which are believed to protect against heart disease.

GREEN

Green foods, such as spinach, contain lutein, which is thought to improve the health of our eyes and skin, as well as boost our cardiovascular fitness.

DEEP PURPLE & BLUE

Rich purple- colored foods, like berries are full of anthocyanins and phenols, which protect the body from cancer and premature ageing.

RED

Fruits like strawberries are rich in antioxidant anthocyanins, believed to slow down ageing and help prevent urinary tract infections such as cystitis.

WHITE & BROWN
